Essence Music Festival – My Black is Beautiful
From June 30th – July 5th we travelled down to New Orleans for the My Black is Beautiful (MBIB) event at the Essence Music Festival.
My Black is Beautiful is an event empowering black women and promoting positive images sponsored by Procter and Gamble.
The Essence Music festival is a yearly music festival put on by Essence Magazine every 4th of July Weekend. Several corporate sponsors and celebrities come out to the festival. Corporate names such as Proctor & Gamble, Walmart, McDonalds, Ford, Coca-Cola, and others were in attendance!
Celebrities like Steve Harvey, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, and more were sprawling about the city. The festivities ranged from the Expo, to the concerts at night in the Super Dome. Our job was to capture all of the MBIB events with video and still photography.
In the end, nothing quite measures up to the vivid memories of those amazing moments. However, our footage and photography are the next best thing.
